Sports style and cycling fashionista

 [Sports style]

This is very common style for speed bikes and mountain bikes. The main feature is very practical. They fit and protect body well. The most famous brand is Halfords. They sell all range of bike accessories including apparel.

Some of London committees wear these when they go to office. Many office prepare shower rooms and lockers for bike committees. They change to suits after they took shower.

[Cycling Fashionista]

Because increasing number of cyclists, some companies start considering about women cyclists fashion. These garments should be able to ride a bicycle but very fashionable. There are no safety items at all. But there is no rule that we have to wear helmets and yellow jackets. Actually, many other country people do not wear any of them. So wearing clothes which you want is quite normal thing. But here, in London, it is seemed to be a bit sensational style at this moment.

They also planning  12 Cycle Superhighways by 2015. Recently we can use 2 of them, CS3 which is between Barking to Tower Gateway and CS7 which is between Merton to City. Most of London cyclists are committees. They wear normal clothes with a helmet and a yellow jacket for safety reason.
However, some of them put on more specialized garments for cycling. Sports style is still popular among young men, and new cycling casual fashion is becoming popular for among young women.

Increasing cyclists in London

London is becoming a cycling city. Since 2005, which had the tragedy of the suicide bomb attack, a mumbler of cyclists are increasing dramatically. In fact, it has risen 83% from 2000 to 2007 and it is almost 500,000 cyclists per a day in 2007. Also, as this bar chart shows increasing cyclists which is counted crossing the City boundary on a single day in a given year. As it describe, it increased roughly 325% since 1999.

By these results, I can say that cycling in London is a big trend in 2000s. Even it is not subculture, it has surely influenced people's lifestyle and fashion. So I am going to research about cycling culture in London.

Mushed up 2000s

Even it was just a few years ago, it is very hard to definite particular subcultures in 2000s. All trend what I am sure is just skinny jeans became everybody's common wear. In Japan, fashion trend cycle became shorter and shorter. Also high street brands and cheap fashion became mainstream. 1990s was a kind of trends which we wear import brands. Burberry and Vivian Westwood were everywhere among high-school girls. Even I had a Prada purse because it was also 'must item' among young girls.
However, in 2000s, I wore garments whatever I can get very cheap. There was not unique design at all. All  boutiques designed almost same shapes, colours and fabrics. I can say it is uni-formed trend era. All young people wore similar clothes. So I should realize some subcultures, but still, it is difficult because these two things, fashion and subculture has become non-connection. Just, already decided trends were running crazily.
